Understanding Moving Challenges

If you had to start moving tomorrow, how hard do you think it would be to get everything done on time? About a year ago, I started thinking about making some changes to our lives, and we decided to move across the country to explore some new places. It was intimidating at first, but after a few weeks of planning, things really started to fall into place. We were able to work through a lot of our moving challenges, and when moving day finally arrived, it felt great to put everything into the truck and get going. This blog is all about moving successfully.

Are You Moving To A New Home?

Are you moving to a new home? Perhaps you have been transferred to another city by your company. Or, it might be that your family has increased in number and you have simply outgrown your present house. For whatever reason you are moving, from organizing the packing to arranging for piano movers, here are some ideas that might make your move a smooth one.

Begin As Early As Possible

As soon as you find out that you're moving, get to work. Even doing small things might make things easier on packing day. For example, since summer is over with, consider packing up summer clothes like swim suits, and things like beach toys that probably won't be used until next summer. Leave out just enough bed linens and towels that your family will need, and get the remainder ones packed up and ready for the new house.

  • Ask all of your family members to go through their own belongings
  • Encourage them to get rid of things they no longer want
  • Remind them to put aside things they'll want right away at the new house

Moving Special Objects

While regular household items like pots and pans and regular furniture pieces are an expected part of the move, it will be a good idea for you to let the movers know ahead of time if you have special moving needs. For example, if you have expensive art work, the movers will bring proper crating materials for the art to be moved without being damaged. And, if you have a piano, that is a very big deal.

  • Be sure that the moving company has experience with piano moving.
  • An upright piano will be moved in one piece, of course.
  • If you have a baby grand or a grand piano, the piano movers may move it in parts.

Have you ever moved with a piano before? Don't stress. The piano movers have the right training to do the job well. Inanition, they'll have the right equipment and the proper protection for your piano to arrive safely to your new home. When you arrive at your new house, it may be necessary to have your piano tuned.

Of course, if you discover that the piano, or any of your other belongings, have been even slightly damaged, the moving company will make things right. Your things will be repaired or you will be given a money amount to replace the items that were damaged.
